Hagnau wine is spoiled by Lake Constance

Exceptional wines ripen on the vineyards of the Hagnau winegrowers' cooperative. The vines of Baden's oldest winegrowers' cooperative lead an enviable life: they grow and thrive directly on the sunny slopes of the protective Lake Constance with a view across the water to the Swiss Alpine foothills and the rock formations of the mountain giants. The Hagnau winegrowers' association was founded on 20 October 1881 and is now the largest cooperative winegrowing operation on Lake Constance with around 52 winegrowing families and 177 hectares of vineyards. A strong community of winegrowers and personnel qualifications at all levels form the clout of the winegrowers' association. "What one cannot do alone, many can do together". Dr. Heinrich Hansjakob, popular writer and pastor, had initiated the cooperative as a bulwark against the arbitrariness of the wine merchants. Portraits and reminders of this energetic man can be found everywhere in the village.
