Get to know the "Lake Dwellings" World Heritage Site, walk across Lake Constance on a footbridge and be fascinated by ancient techniques from the Stone Age - the lake dwellings bring a long-gone, sunken world back to life. In a spectacular location above Lake Constance, 23 lake dwellings have been reconstructed in Unteruhldingen in an extensive museum complex. In Germany's oldest archaeological open-air museum, exciting everyday objects from the Stone and Bronze Ages entice visitors.

A new museum concept gets museum visitors excited about the past. A freshly installed tour is set up without touching or encountering anything. With info points, beach flags and display boards, orientation is easy. The early history of the lake, the World Heritage Site "Lake Dwellings around the Alps", Ötzi and his contemporaries, their diseases and medicines are presentation topics. In the exhibition, you will discover over 1000 original finds from the World Heritage Sites around Lake Constance at the end of the tour.

The museum, which has been awarded as a family-friendly institution, is largely barrier-free and was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Museum Prize. There is a large bicycle parking area in front of the museum, and the landing stage of the Lake Constance shipping company is a 5-minute walk from the open-air museum.
